URGENT: Support Brescia Faculty Association in closing the gender wage gap

Sent on behalf of Mark Rosenfeld

Dear colleagues:

The Brescia Faculty Association in London will be in conciliation on September 26 and 28. To put pressure on the employer to settle in conciliation, the Brescia Faculty Association is asking that your faculty association send a letter of support to the Brescia Principal and Board Chair. In addition, we would appreciate your assistance in circulating the link to the letter as broadly as possible to your members, and other allies in the university sector. To generate as much support as quickly as we can, we have chosen an online standardized letter – individuals simply need to follow the link, enter their name, e-mail address and organization, and hit submit.

Follow this link to sign the letter: http://www.bresciafacultyassociation.ca/letter-campaign-show-your-support/

This afternoon at 3:15 p.m., the Brescia Faculty Association will be holding a public event to bring awareness to the gender wage gap that is at the heart of their bargaining demands. This is a great opportunity for all of us to not only bring attention to the bargaining issues at Brescia, but to support the province-wide effort to eliminate the gender wage gap everywhere. Brescia is Canada’s only women’s university and 72 per cent of full-time faculty at Brescia are women, while the average salary is the second lowest of any university faculty in the province.

OCUFA and the BFA will be active on social media this afternoon during the event, and would appreciate it if you could further assist us by re-tweeting and sharing our messages with your networks.

Regular updates on the campaign and bargaining will be posted on the Brescia Faculty Association website: www.bresciafacultyassociation.ca
Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Mark
