CAS Bargaining Unit Meetings Re: Teaching Evaulations

Sent on behalf of Michele Kramer, WLUFA President

According to the CAS Collective Agreement, Article 19.2.4:

“The Parties agree that courses taught by Members and by full-time faculty shall be evaluated by the same teaching evaluation form(s). Should the Parties agree to modifications in the teaching evaluation forms under Article 31 of the full-time collective agreement, the Association agrees to take those modifications to the Members of the part-time contract academic staff and part-time professional librarians Bargaining Unit for ratification as revisions to this Article 19 of this Collective Agreement.”

In 2012 a committee was struck to review the University teaching evaluation form. The committee presented their report and recommendations to the Joint Liaison Committee in 2013 and extensive discussions followed. The result is that there have been modifications to the teaching evaluation form and it has undergone several pilot runs. The Joint Liaison Committee has approved the proposed revisions and the revised form is attached, as is the current version of the evaluation. An explanation of changes is also attached for your review.

There will be two Bargaining Unit Meetings to further inform CAS Members and discuss the modified form. Information about the meetings is below. A ratification vote will begin at the end of each of the meetings (one in Waterloo and one in Brantford). The voting will continue until noon on November 26th. Voting must be in person and the times and locations will be confirmed at the meetings.
