What is collective bargaining?
Collective bargaining is the process through which WLUFA and the employer negotiate the terms and conditions of employment for members in the bargaining unit.

When does the current Collective Agreement expire?
The current Collective Agreement is in effect from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.
When does bargaining begin?
The parties are scheduled to begin meeting at the table in May 2026.
What are protocols?
Protocols are the ground rules for bargaining. They may address scheduling, the exchange of proposals, confidentiality, and how meetings will be conducted.
What happens at the bargaining table?
At the bargaining table, WLUFA and the employer exchange proposals, respond to each other’s positions, and work toward a renewed Collective Agreement.
What is a bargaining mandate?
A bargaining mandate is the direction that helps guide the negotiating team in bargaining. It reflects member priorities and helps shape the goals and approach the team brings to the table.
How are bargaining priorities determined?
Bargaining priorities are informed by member feedback, workplace issues, the experience of the negotiating team, and the broader bargaining context.
How can members share questions, concerns, or ideas?
Members are encouraged to contact WLUFA with questions, concerns, ideas, or priorities they would like the team to keep in mind during bargaining.

Its purpose is to provide useful information and assistance to candidates who have been offered a Full-time Faculty or Librarian appointment at the University and are about to enter into negotiations on their terms of appointment:

The general terms and conditions of employment for Members of the Full-time Bargaining Unit are set out in and subject to the current Collective Agreement for July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. Under the Agreement the Employer is required to include a copy of the Collective Agreement with the letter of appointment.
